Canvas of Beware the Zealot (Painted billboard posters)
Canvas of Beware the Zealot (Painted billboard posters)

So day 2 of open studios, I continue to make the installation 'Beware the Zealot'. It was sunny so outside on the terrace seemed appropriate (chives between the paving stones all carefully removed), to continue to work on it.

The 'canvas' is a series of billboard posters, circa 2000, and for ease of transport, as well as working on it, its designed to be removal from its frame. Everything was going great until the 2 drops of rain turned into a downpour within 30 seconds... and I did not immediately whip it up and rush inside. My thought process was, hmm interesting, I wander what this will do to the paint I have justly applied... its old billboard posters they're waterproof.. Anyway I was saved from myself, by my fellow artist (mother, dearest) and a visitor 'what can we help bring in/ lets grab it and bring it in' as I realised that all my pastels, notebooks, fabric bags, electric hotpot were also outside with me, and not so rainproof...

Anyway, everything is now drying out inside and (wallpaper paste reactivates when it gets wet, in case you were curious) the paint is applied and its back on its frame, so will see in the morning if its gained a few more ripples in its structure or just slowly sagged...
